Student Mental Ill Health Is ‘Under-Treated’

New research in the British Journal of Guidance & Counselling reveals that just one in 20 students suffering with mental health problems are getting the help they need. The research, carried out by Ann Macaskill, Professor of Health Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University, shows that students are facing much greater financial pressures than ever before. In addition to this, higher student numbers are making it more difficult for them to establish friendships and social networks and mean that there is less support available from university staff.
